Jeff Meilander

Jeff Meilander has 19 years of experience working as a professional educator in kindergarten through graduate school teaching across numerous scientific disciplines using a student-centered, constructivist pedagogy. 

He is the founder and executive director of the Flagstaff EcoRanch, a non-profit sustainability education center focused on agriculture. Through these experiences he has educated, mentored, or supervised over 12,500 students. Jeff has also volunteered on farms in Eastern Europe and South America, worked as a backpacking guide in Patagonia, Chile and the Grand Canyon, co-authored four anatomy textbooks, and is currently working on a PhD in biology studying the microbiology of composting toilets. Jeff’s favorite form of entertainment is playing with his six- and four-year old boys.
